Foggy Notions

The Gift Of Hope

The America we once knew, is being crushed before our very eyes.

I’m noticing a growing sadness and sense of despair sweeping across the country. It’s not that hope is completely lost, it’s just fading fast.

I refuse to let that mood grip me. If I let it, then I will have nothing left to give.

So where can I and others find an enduring hope in the midst of institutional destruction?

That’s the question, isn’t it? Or maybe this is the more important question, is there even an enduring hope to be found at all?

I think so. I believe so. I hope so.

Some of you are like me. You feel as though you are planted on solid ground. Your house is built on Rock, not on shifting sand. Hurricane winds will blow, but all will be well.

In times like this, more than ever, we need each other. We can endure if we knit our lives into one, into The One who holds all things together. We can communicate it in such a way that others seeking something more sustaining will stop and listen and give some thought to what we are saying.

Hope is a beautiful gift. Let’s package it and give it away.
